Throughout the history of architecture, there has been a continual pursuit for height. The pyramids were just started from being one floor, but after some time architectures made them high and high. Thousands of workers worked hard on the pyramids of ancient Egypt to create remarkable structures which is an admiration to everyone up to this day. No one exactly knows how these primitive people were able to make such structures that have lasted for thousands of years. Early historians believed that only slaves were used to construct the pyramids, but many modern historians now think that the pharaoh Khufu employed people for three months of each year during the time of the Nile's annual flood which made it impossible to farm the land, and most of the population was unemployed. By working on Khufu's "Great Pyramid" the people had food and clothing during these periods of inactivity. The Egyptian Pyramids are the oldest and only surviving member of the ancient wonders. Today there are about eighty (80) surviving pyramids in Egypt, the three largest and best preserved of these being at Giza, near the city of Cairo. They were built at the beginning of what we call the Old Kingdom, starting around 2560BC (over 4,500 years ago!)

People build skyscrapers primarily because they think they are beautiful and convenience to live. Constructors started going high and high, and built towers one by one near each other. These colonies, in the beginning, were so nice and astonishing, but after some time, they made city's face so ugly. Skyscrapers don't have the uniqueness of the pyramids. Egyptian's pyramids are one of the wonders of the world even they were built thousands of years ago. Unfortunately, the tall and nice towers seem so unattractive in comparison to the pyramids. The desire of having high buildings didn't bring cities a pleasant view. A city like New York has lots of high towers, but they are not competitive to the great Pyramids. Egyptians made extraordinary buildings which are the center of attention from past to now.

Wow! That's a really cool connection. The two structures are sooo different, yet still share some things in common, and that's their height and beuty!

The pyramids truly are remarkable. It's interesting to look at both styles of architecture and realize how different they are

The two probably represent that same thing at their given time. I think they both show strength and courage of their city and people. Both are very beautiful structures!
